Education
Located in the picturesque Coal River Valley, just 20 minutes from Hobart, Hobart Zoo & Aquarium is home to over 200 animals across immersive, landscaped habitats — including Tasmania’s largest aquarium.
Our Education Programs align with the Australian Curriculum Version 9 and draw on current knowledge from government and industry experts worldwide. Designed for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, our programs provide meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that support both classroom and outdoor education.
Students can take part in animal encounters, interactive learning sessions, and guided or self-directed activities, while teachers are supported with practical resources, hands-on activities, and curriculum-linked unit plans.
With a strong focus on conservation, ecosystems, sustainability, and animal adaptations, every visit offers students the opportunity to connect deeply with the natural world through real-life experiences. Our flexible education programs can be tailored to suit different learning objectives, ensuring every visit is engaging, enriching, and curriculum-relevant.
