Hobart Zoo and Aquarium’s Education Program offers curriculum-aligned learning experiences for Prep to Year 6 students, combining hands-on encounters, guided conservation lessons, and structured classroom resources.
The program integrates Biological Sciences, Sustainability, Literacy and HASS outcomes, while supporting the Australian Curriculum V9 and the Tasmanian Government’s Lifting Literacy Framework.
Each unit includes pre-visit and post-visit lessons, levelled readings, interactive activities, and teaching resources designed to support diverse learners and build curiosity about wildlife and conservation.
School Excursions
School excursions at Hobart Zoo & Aquarium offer students meaningful, hands-on learning experiences with a diverse range of animals, including Tasmania’s largest aquarium.
Programs align with the Australian Curriculum for Kindergarten to Year 12 and include self-guided visits, animal encounters, and educational workshops focused on conservation and sustainability.
School Holiday Program
Give your child a hands-on learning experience with animals during the school holidays.
Our School Holiday Program offers fun, structured sessions where children explore animal care, behaviour, and conservation through guided activities and close-up encounters.

Home Schooling Excursions
Our Home Schooling Excursions provide curriculum-linked conservation education experiences designed specifically for home school learners. Students can explore biological science through hands-on activities, animal encounters, and engaging lessons led by our qualified Conservation Education Teacher, while connecting with other learners in a fun and interactive environment.
