White Albino Wallaby
White Albino Wallaby at Hobart Zoo and Aquarium
Graceful, unique, and truly eye-catching—our White Albino Wallabies are a rare sight and a favourite among visitors. With their snowy-white fur and striking pink eyes, these gentle marsupials stand out while still carrying the same playful and curious spirit as their relatives.
In the wild
Albino wallabies are extremely rare in nature, as their lack of pigment makes them more visible to predators. Most commonly, they are found in Tasmania, where their lighter colour can sometimes help them blend with sandy or coastal surroundings. Like other wallabies, they are herbivores, grazing on grasses and native plants, and are most active in the early morning and late afternoon.
How We Care for Our White Albino Wallabies at Hobart Zoo and Aquarium
-
Natural Habitat Spaces
Their enclosure features open grassy areas and shaded retreats, providing plenty of space for grazing, resting, and hopping about.
-
Gentle Diet
They enjoy a balanced diet of native grasses, vegetables, and special treats offered by our keepers—sometimes even hand-fed during our animal talks.
-
Special Care
Due to their sensitivity to sunlight, our animal care team ensures they have access to shaded areas and protective spaces, helping them stay comfortable and healthy year-round.
