Grey Kangaroos

Eastern Grey Kangaroos

Eastern Grey Kangaroos at Hobart Zoo and Aquarium

Bouncing across the Aussie bush and into your heart, Eastern Grey Kangaroos are one of the most recognisable symbols of Australia. With their powerful hind legs, soft grey coats, and curious faces, they’re the true gentle giants of the outback.

In the wild

Found throughout eastern and southeastern Australia, including Tasmania, Eastern Greys live in open woodlands and grasslands, often forming large groups called mobs. They’re herbivores, social animals, and surprisingly agile boxers when it comes to play—or asserting dominance!
