Education Access Program
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are Tasmanian education institutions delivering formal learning.
Priority is given to schools with an ICSEA value ≤ 950, with case by case consideration for others.
Schools must be based in Tasmania.
Uniformed groups and childminders are not eligible.
Multi campus schools must apply separately.
Fees and Payment

Program fee: $1,500 incl. GST

Access begins once payment is received and runs until the final day of Term 4, 2025

Free adult entry at a 1:10 ratio; additional adults $21 each

All visits are subject to daily capacity
Upgrade to a Conservation Lesson and Encounter
Educators can enhance visits with curriculum-linked lessons and encounters delivered by a Conservation Educator with teachers receiving a comprehensive unit plan that is aligned to the Australian Curriculum V9 and Tasmanian Governments Lifting Literacy Framework. This includes:
a. pre-visit and post-visit hands activities
b. readings adapted to appropriate Flesch-Kincaid Year levels
c. lesson adjustments to engage all students plus many more wonderful tools and supports
This applies at the flat rate of $85 per class and must be booked within 7 days of the excursion.
Terms and Conditions
1a. Inclusions & Exclusions
Includes unlimited weekday visits (subject to capacity), discounted workshops, and Touch Pool access.
Excludes incursions and online programs.
Visits must be booked two weeks in advance and occur during Tasmanian school terms.
Tickets are non transferable.
Supervision ratios apply; additional adults pay $21.
Transport, catering, and cancellations follow standard Hobart Zoo & Aquarium policies.
Repeated no shows may result in program removal.

1c. Privacy & Evaluation
Participants agree to support program evaluation via educator feedback.
Student involvement requires teacher consent.
Hobart Zoo & Aquarium complies with Australian privacy legislation.
