Education Access Program

1. What is the Education Access Program?

Hobart Zoo & Aquarium’s Education Access Program aims to increase educational access to our wildlife park and world-class aquarium, enhancing learning in sustainability, conservation, and marine ecosystems. For a fee of $1,500 (incl. GST) for the 2025 academic year, eligible institutions will enjoy:

·        - Unlimited self-guided weekday visits during school terms*

·        - Discounted workshops during Terms 1 & 4**

·        - Touch Pool education sessions introducing marine life interaction

·        - Support for educators to maximise use of the program

* Subject to daily capacity. Free adult entry applies within standard supervision ratios. Additional adults/workshops incur fees.
** Discounted rates apply only in Terms 1 & 4. Full fees apply during Terms 2 & 3.

2. Eligibility

Eligible applicants are Tasmanian education institutions delivering formal learning. Priority is given to schools with an ICSEA value of 950 or below. Consideration will be given to other factors on a case-by-case basis. Organisations must be based in Tasmania. Uniformed groups and childminders are not eligible. Separate applications are required for multi-campus schools.

3. Fees and Payment

The fee for the 2025 Education Access Program is $1,500 including GST. Access begins once payment is received. The program runs until the final day of Term 4, 2025. Fees are not prorated. Additional activities (e.g., workshops) must be prepaid 7 days in advance.

4. Upgrade to a Workshop

Educators can enhance visits with curriculum-linked workshops delivered by our experienced staff. In 2025, discounted workshops are $7 per student during Terms 1 & 4, including marine-focused touch pool experiences and key programs like 'Living World' and 'Science Week'. Full fees apply in peak terms.

5. Terms and Conditions

5a. Inclusions and Exclusions

Benefits include unlimited weekday visits (subject to availability), discounted workshops, and access to touch pool education. Excludes incursions or online programs. Visits must be pre-booked two weeks in advance and occur during Tasmanian school terms. Tickets are non-transferable.

Supervision ratios apply. Additional adults pay $21. Transport, food, and cancellations follow standard Hobart Zoo & Aquarium policies. Failure to attend booked visits may result in removal from the program.

5b. Cancellations

You may cancel within 14 days of payment for a refund. If accessed within this period, ticket costs are deducted. No refund is given after 14 days. Repeated no-shows or breaches may result in removal without refund.

5c. Privacy and Evaluation

Participants agree to assist with program evaluation, including feedback from educators. Student participation will require teacher consent. Hobart Zoo & Aquarium complies with Australian privacy legislation.
