Year 2 -Behind The Scenes at HZAA

Year 2 students explore how modern zoos and aquariums support animals, people and the planet through science, care and conservation. They discover how staff roles, scientific practices and animal welfare principles work together to ensure animals are healthy, safe and thriving.

Students are introduced to the Five Domains animal welfare model and investigate what animals need to survive, including food, water, shelter and care. Through discussion, observation and creative tasks, students build scientific understanding while developing communication and inquiry skills.
