Little Corellas
Little Corellas at Hobart Zoo and Aquarium Zoo
Cheeky, clever, and full of character—Little Corellas are one of Australia’s most social and playful parrots. With soft white feathers, a bluish eye ring, and a flash of blush-pink around the face, these birds are just as entertaining to watch as they are to listen to.
In the wild
In the wild, Little Corellas form large, noisy flocks and are found across grasslands, woodlands, and urban areas throughout much of Australia. They’re known for their intelligence, strong social bonds, and their ability to cause a little mischief! At Hobart Zoo and Aquarium Zoo, our Little Corellas live in a vibrant aviary designed for flight, play, and interaction—with plenty of enrichment to keep their busy brains and beaks engaged.
How We Keep Our Corellas Thriving
-
Smart Snacks
Their diet includes seeds, nuts, fruits, and leafy greens—offered in puzzle feeders and scattered trays to mimic natural foraging behaviour.
-
Feathered Fun
Ropes, toys, swings, and chewable branches are rotated regularly to keep our corellas active and entertained.
-
Friendly Faces
With their outgoing personalities, our Little Corellas often engage with keepers and guests—showing off their calls, climbing skills, and social smarts.
