Welcome to Hobart Zoo & Aquarium
We’re excited to welcome you to our brand-new website! While a few sections are still being completed, we wanted to get it up and running so you can follow along as Hobart Zoo & Aquarium continues to grow and evolve.
At the heart of this project is Stuart Webster’s lifelong dream – to create the most beautiful zoo in the world. From a childhood passion to a decades-long mission, Stuart has brought together sustainability, nature, design, and care to reimagine what a modern zoo can be.
One of our proudest achievements so far is the opening of Tasmania’s largest aquarium – a breathtaking, all-weather experience that showcases the wonders of our local marine and freshwater ecosystems. Followed closely by our world class purpose-built Cotton Top Tamarin exhibit.
We invite you to explore the site, plan your visit, and watch as more of this incredible vision comes to life.

Whether you're visiting to the Koalas or explore everything else we have to offer, any day is a great day to visit — rain, hail or shine. With five outdoor playgrounds featuring plenty of shade, plus our huge fully heated and air-conditioned indoor spaces including Tasmania’s largest aquarium, a massive indoor playground, café, and gift shop — there's something for everyone, no matter the weather!

Step into the tranquil world of our brand-new Aquarium, where shimmering fish glide through crystal-clear water and curious creatures peek out from rocky hideaways.
Discover even more at our interactive Touch Pool, open daily from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, and enjoy close-up encounters with fascinating marine life — all included with general entry.

New Indoor playground
Discover our spacious indoor playground, designed for children from toddlers to 14 years to play, climb and explore in comfort all year round.
Featuring a dedicated toddler play area for safe, age-appropriate fun, alongside larger adventure zones for older children, this indoor space encourages active play, creativity and confidence-building.
Fully heated and air-conditioned, the indoor playground provides a comfortable environment in any weather, making it a great option for families year-round.
All indoor play areas are included with admission, adding even more value to your visit at Hobart Zoo & Aquarium.

We couldn’t do it without our valued volunteers. Every year, our volunteers generously contribute over 10,000 hours of service, becoming vital members of the zoo team.
